Workspace files give Sofie durable source material for a project or team. You can upload or import the formats below. Each file can be up to 50 MB.

Supported file types

The file extension and the file’s content type must match. Renaming an unsupported file with a supported extension does not make it compatible.
Audio and video files are not supported as Workspace files. If a recording should become Workspace knowledge, add its transcript in a supported document or text format.

File size limit

The maximum size is 50 MB per file. Sofie applies this limit to files you:
  • Upload from your computer.
  • Add through a Workspace file picker.
  • Import or sync from Google Drive, OneDrive, or SharePoint.
Sofie processes supported files so they can become searchable Workspace context. Some formats are converted during processing. If the processed version exceeds 50 MB, processing can still fail even when the original file was within the upload limit. To reduce a file:
  • Split a long document into focused sections.
  • Compress images before adding them to a document or presentation.
  • Export a large presentation or document as a smaller PDF.
  • Divide a large spreadsheet or data export into related files.

Import files from connected apps

Cloud imports and synced folders use the same supported formats and 50 MB limit. Sofie can export native Google Docs and Google Slides to PDF. It can export native Google Sheets to XLSX. Unsupported or oversized files in a synced folder are skipped while supported files continue syncing. Integration availability depends on your organization settings and your connected account permissions. See Connected apps for setup and usage guidance.

Add supported files to a Workspace

1

Open the Workspace

Click Workspaces in the sidebar and open the destination Workspace.
2

Open Create

Click Create, then select Upload Files.
3

Choose files

Select one or more supported files that are no larger than 50 MB each.
4

Confirm processing

Check the Workspace for an error or skipped-file message. Reduce, split, or convert any file that Sofie cannot process.
For file organization, permissions, and Workspace search, see Manage Workspace files, members, and context.

Troubleshoot file limits

Confirm that its extension appears in the supported file types table. Export or convert the file to a supported format before uploading it.
Check that the extension matches the file’s actual content type. Re-exporting the file from its original application can correct a mismatched or damaged file.
Reduce the file to 50 MB or less. Split large documents or data exports when each section can stand on its own.
Confirm that the file uses a supported format and is no larger than 50 MB. Supported files in the same synced folder can continue syncing.
A converted version of the file may exceed the processing limit, or the file may be damaged. Reduce or re-export the source file, then upload it again.
