Create and edit artifacts from chat

Artifacts are durable work surfaces in Sofie. Use chat to create or edit them when an answer needs to become something you can review, share, update, or reuse.

Choose the artifact

Create a Surface from chat

Use a Surface when the result should become an interactive experience, page, or presentation that you can keep updating and sharing.

Turn this program review into an Interactive Surface. Include milestone status, current risks, owners, due dates, and a form for follow-up actions. Use this Workspace as context and keep unsupported conclusions out of the summary.

Sofie opens the Surface beside the conversation while it builds. Continue in the same chat to refine the content, layout, data, or interactions. For the complete workflow, see Surfaces and Create and edit a Surface.

Create a CoDraft from chat

Use CoDraft when output needs document structure, comments, suggestions, templates, or export.

Create a CoDraft for a deviation investigation report. Use these sources and include sections for background, event description, immediate actions, evidence reviewed, source gaps, SME questions, and draft conclusion. Do not write final conclusion language until I approve the evidence table.

You can also import a Word document:

Import this DOCX into a CoDraft. Preserve headings and tables where possible. Then list sections that need QA review.

After creation, ask:

“Open the CoDraft.”
“Rewrite the selected section.”
“Add comments where source support is missing.”
“Propose tracked changes instead of direct edits.”
“Prepare this for Word export.”

Create a CoSheet from chat

Use CoSheet when the output should stay tabular, editable, chartable, or exportable.

Create a CoSheet from this CSV. Add a summary tab with data quality checks, missing values, outliers, and suggested charts.

For an existing CoSheet:

Open the CAPA metrics CoSheet. Add a Status column using the effectiveness criteria and preview the formula before applying it.

Ask for:

Formula suggestions.
Data profiling.
Pivot table suggestions.
Chart creation.
Export to Excel or CSV.
A narrative summary for a CoDraft.

Create a Workspace from chat

Use a Workspace when the work needs shared files, artifacts, teammates, and searchable project context.

Create a Workspace called Fill-finish deviation DI-2026-014. Add folders for Source documents, Data, Meetings, Drafts, and References.

Then ask:

Save this CoDraft and the CoSheet action tracker to the Workspace after I approve them.

Create or run an Orchestration from chat

Use Orchestrations when the same workflow should be repeated.

Build an Orchestration for CAPA effectiveness checks. First propose inputs, tasks, tools, human review points, and output format. Keep it as a draft until I test it.

Run an existing Orchestration:

Run the batch record review Orchestration using this Workspace. Ask me for any required inputs before starting.

Save output to a Workspace

When work belongs to a project, ask Sofie to save or associate the artifact with a Workspace.

After I approve the draft, save it to the PPQ protocol Workspace under Drafts.

Confirm the Workspace before saving. Shared Workspace content may be visible to everyone with access. Moving a Surface into a Workspace gives every Workspace member Viewer access to its current live version.

Edit an artifact from chat

Open or add the artifact as context, then ask for the edit. Good edit requests:

Open the CoDraft and add a source gap table after the Evidence reviewed section.

In this CoSheet, add formulas for Days Open and Status. Preview the formulas first.

Update the Orchestration so it asks for human review before creating the final CoDraft.

Ask for confirmation points

Use explicit confirmation language:

Ask me before creating the artifact.

Ask me before saving to the Workspace.

Ask me before exporting.

Ask me before sending or updating anything in a connected app.

Troubleshoot artifact creation

Sofie returned a table in chat, but I wanted a CoSheet

Ask: Create this as a CoSheet instead of a chat table. Use the same columns and add a summary tab.

Sofie drafted text, but I wanted a CoDraft

Ask: Move this into a CoDraft and preserve the headings.

Sofie edited directly, but I wanted suggestions

Ask: Undo direct edits if possible and propose tracked changes or comments instead.

Sofie needs more context

Add the relevant Workspace, CoDraft, CoSheet, CoMeeting, or files, then restate the artifact request.
